I have dedicated the last 20 years to my family and to serving our community in San Luis Obispo County by improving public safety, maintaining the highest standards and constantly improving the District Attorney’s office. As a trial deputy district attorney, Felony Trial Team Leader, Chief Deputy District Attorney and currently as the Assistant District Attorney (second in command to the elected District Attorney), I am proud to have been entrusted with the most difficult and challenging issues faced by victims, The District Attorney’s Office and our law enforcement community.
My commitment to the people of San Luis Obispo County is demonstrated by a twenty year record of innovation and creative approaches to public safety. Recent federal court mandates and the passage of Public Safety Realignment present new and serious challenges to law enforcement. Now, more than ever, our community needs responsible, creative and proven leadership to forge the kind of criminal justice partnerships that will find solutions to the challenges ahead of us.
My commitment is also reflected in the many cases that I have tried on behalf of the People of the State of California, and this County, including the Dystiny Myers case, the murder of Michael Sotelo, the County’s first cold hit murder case (People v. Derks), and People v. Rex Krebs (co-counsel).
I have lived in San Luis Obispo since 1993 and my wife Sue and I have raised our daughters, Zoe and Olivia, here. Zoe is a sophomore at Penn State University and Olivia is a senior at San Luis Obispo High School.
I would be honored to continue serving our community as your elected District Attorney, and I promise to serve the interests of justice with fairness, transparency and accountability.
